RSBP Nature Reserve at Balranald

Balranald, Isle of North Uist, Eilean Siar, HS6 5DL

Sweeping sandy beaches, a craggy foreshore peppered with rockpools, wind-sculpted sand dunes and wildflower-rich grassland. Welcome to Balranald nature reserve.

Uist Unearthed -Location E - Dùn an Sticir

Daliburgh, Isle of North Uist, Outer Hebrides, HS8 5SS

Over 2000 years ago in the Iron Age, a broch on an islet towered against the water of Loch an Sticir. Over 1000 years later, at the height of the Lordship of the Isles, a grand medieval hall was built into its ruins.

Sollas Golf Course

Sollas

Sollas golf course is a 9 hole links course on the North West of North Uist over-looking the Atlantic.

The course was built and maintained by local volunteers in the summer of 2001. The course is on the machair used by the local crofters who have given permission to use the land to play golf.

Old Lochmaddy School

Shoreline Stoneware Pottery & Gallery

Locheport, Isle of North Uist

Situated at the start of Locheport Road in a stunning location overlooking the sea loch of Oban a’Chlachain, the gallery offers visitors a unique view of the Hebrides.

The pottery is owned and run by Louise Cook, who spent much of her childhood enchanted by adventures in and around her grandmother’s croft in Locheport on the Isle of North Uist.

Hercules - The Bear

Langass, Isle Of North Uist, Outer Hebrides, HS6 5HA

You can find out more about Hercules - The Bear at Langass Woodland ( a short walk from Airidh Mhic Ruaraidh Cottage ) where his statue stands and kids can follow a "Paw Print" trail around the woodland and rekindle the story of the famous bear. 

Uist Sculpture Trail

Each sculpture involved the local community in its construction and all provide a place to sit surrounded by sea, islands and sky and are found in various locations across the Uists and Benbecula.

Wildlife Watching

North Uist is a wildlife enthusiast's paradise. Keep your eyes peeled for playful otters along the coastline, seals basking on the offshore skerries, and majestic red deer roaming the moorland. The RSPB Balranald Nature Reserve is a must-visit for birdwatchers, offering sightings of corncrakes, oystercatchers, and numerous other waders and seabirds. Look to the skies for a chance to spot the magniicant white-tailed sea eagle soaring above. Visit the seal colony to see Common and Atlantic Grey Seals on the eastern side of the island.
